Pendidikan Pesantren Berkelanjutan melalui Pengelolaan Wakaf yang Optimal: Peluang dan Tantangan Studi Kasus di Akademi Tahfiz Qur’an dan Bahasa Arab (ATQIA)
Abstract
Waqf, as an Islamic economic instrument, holds significant potential to support pesantren in operational aspects, curriculum development, and the welfare of students and teaching staff. Sustainable pesantren education requires stable and continuous funding, one of which can be achieved through the optimization of waqf management. This study aims to analyze the role of waqf in supporting the sustainability of pesantren education, identify opportunities and challenges, and formulate effective management strategies. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach to understand waqf management and its impact on pesantren sustainability, conducted at the Akademi Tahfiz Qur’an dan Bahasa Arab (ATQIA), a pesantren that has been productively managing waqf. The findings indicate that productive waqf management, such as agriculture and trading businesses, has substantial potential and has contributed to pesantren operational funding and the improvement of educational quality. However, challenges such as a lack of waqf management literacy, limited capital, and suboptimal regulations still hinder waqf development. Recommended strategies include enhancing management capacity, utilizing digital technology, and collaborating with Islamic financial institutions. This study contributes to the development of a sustainable waqf management model to support pesantren education in Indonesia
