Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia are experiencing a significant shift in Arabic language learning methods, from an approach oriented towards textual mastery of nahwu-sharaf rules to an approach oriented towards active communication skills (maharah kalam and istima'). This article aims to examine the impact of this pedagogical transformation on enhancing the Arabic language skills of Islamic boarding school students through a literature review of empirical studies published within the last five years. The study results indicate that pedagogical transformation encompassing the implementation of constructivist strategies, pragmatic and communicative approaches, the strengthening of the language environment (biah lughawiyah), and the integration of digital technology consistently yields positive impacts on the students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. This article recommends that Islamic boarding school administrators and Arabic language educators continue to develop adaptive learning models while upholding Islamic boarding school values ??as their scholarly identity.
