Aim and Scope

Maaliyah journal welcome papers from academicians on theories, conceptual paradigms, academic research, and practices in Islamic finance. In particular, papers which consider the following general topics are invited.


Islamic Banking

A study of Islamic banking products, services, and operations that are in accordance with Islamic principles. Includes:

  • Islamic financing mechanisms (mudharabah, musyarakah, murabahah, ijarah, etc.)
  • Risk management and Islamic compliance in banking
  • Innovation of Islamic-based financial products and technologies (Islamic FinTech)
  • Comparative study between conventional banking and Islamic banking
  • Analysis of the socio-economic impact of Islamic banking

Sharia Economic Law

Focuses on regulations and legal principles that govern economic activities from a sharia perspective. Studies include:

  • Principles of Islamic law in economic transactions
  • Interpretation of the law of fiqh muamalah in a modern context

Legal studies related to sharia-based business practices, including:

Contemporary Islamic Economic Law

Study of the development and challenges of Islamic economic law in the era of globalization and digitalization, such as:

  • Contemporary issues such as sharia crypto, blockchain, and financial technology
  • Adaptation of Islamic law to global market dynamics

Analysis of Islamic Bank Financial Reports

Technical and empirical studies of Islamic bank financial reports to measure performance, transparency, and sharia compliance, including:

  • Analysis of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flows of Islamic banks
  • Measurement of the effectiveness and efficiency of Islamic bank operations

Financial Industry Banking and Non-Banking

Focuses on various financial institutions operating based on sharia principles outside of banking, such as:

Another section related to contemporary issues in Islamic economic law and Islamic Finance
